GREEN CAMPUS POLICY

MAHADEVA LAL SCHROFF COLLEGE OF PHARMACY, Aurangabad, Bihar is committed to demonstrating high environmental sensitivity and social responsibility by adopting and implementing green concepts across the campus. The Green Campus Policy aims to promote sustainable practices within and beyond the institution and to develop effective strategies for environmental management.

The institution believes that while creating and maintaining a green campus is essential, spreading awareness among students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders about eco-friendly practices is equally important. The policy begins with awareness and extends to practical implementation and measurable action plans. The College shall ensure responsible management of water resources, proper waste disposal, conservation of natural resources, minimal paper usage, and promotion of eco-friendly practices. These initiatives will help create a safe, healthy, and sustainable environment for learning, working, and community engagement.

Water Management

  • Practice and implement rainwater harvesting and water recycling systems to address future water scarcity.
  • Promote conservation of potable (drinking) water sources.
  • Conduct regular inspections of taps and pipelines to prevent water leakage and wastage.
  • Encourage the use of drip irrigation systems and recycled water for gardening and landscaping.

Waste Management

  • Create awareness among students and the local community about proper waste segregation and disposal.
  • Encourage reduction, reuse, and recycling practices.
  • Promote composting of biodegradable waste.
  • Support initiatives for converting waste into renewable energy wherever feasible.

Renewable Energy

  • Increase awareness about renewable energy sources.
  • Promote installation and use of solar panels and solar inverters.
  • Encourage the use of energy-efficient electrical appliances and LED lighting.
  • Educate stakeholders on scientific electrification and energy-saving practices.

Green Building & Clean Campus

  • • Promote eco-friendly infrastructure and solar passive building concepts.
  • Maintain cleanliness within and around the campus.
  • Adopt waste minimisation strategies to reduce environmental impact.
  • Encourage plantation drives and greenery development within the campus.

Smoking-Free Campus

MAHADEVA LAL SCHROFF COLLEGE OF PHARMACY strictly prohibits the use of tobacco and smoking products within the campus premises. Any violation shall be treated as an offence under institutional rules.

Green Initiatives Beyond the Campus

The College shall extend its green programs beyond the campus through community engagement and student volunteer initiatives. With strong support from the Management:

  • Organise Green Neighbourhood awareness programs.
  • Promote pollution control and energy conservation practices.
  • Encourage on-site renewable energy methods in nearby communities.
  • Preserve agricultural and environmentally sensitive areas.
  • Conduct student-led environmental awareness campaigns.

Save Energy – Practical Tips

  • Activate power-saving mode on computers and monitors.
  • Turn off computers and monitors when not in use.
  • Enable power management settings on printers and other devices.
  • Shut down systems instead of logging off when possible.
  • Use natural daylight instead of artificial lighting wherever feasible.
  • Avoid decorative lighting.
  • Use LED or compact fluorescent bulbs.
  • Switch off lights and fans in classrooms, lecture halls, offices, and staff rooms when not required.
